TRAIN WHILE YOU WORK!

Fire sprinkler contractors and the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) offer on-the-job training programs regardless of previous experience, where you can train while you get paid.

Many fire sprinkler contractors seek candidates that have some training or experience with computer design programs, such as AutoCAD.  You’ll be able to launch your career by utilizing these computer design skills to help develop fire sprinkler system plans that can be viewed in 3D, and you’ll learn how to use some of the best computer software for design.

Employers and the NFSA offer training programs focused on entry-level design technicians, and the training truly supports industry beginners that are looking to grow their skills.  Check with your potential employers about what training programs they offer.

NFSA offers a program called “The Certificate Program for Fire Sprinkler Technicians.” This program takes approximately two years to complete – all while working full-time – and was created to guide the new design technician along a career development path, creating knowledgeable and efficient fire sprinkler professionals.
